Football Ontario Announces 2025 RedBlack Weekend at the University of Waterloo

RedBlack Weekend to be held at University of Waterloo on May 3-4 Weekend  

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario has officially unveiled the date and location of Phase Three of the 2025 Male Tackle High-Performance Program; RedBlack Weekend. 

The event is set to be held at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, ON and will be hosted by the Waterloo Warriors football program, local community partner the Waterloo Jr Warriors, and Explore Waterloo Region.

We would like to thank the Waterloo Warriors, Waterloo Jr. Warriors and Explore Waterloo Region for all their help and support in the planning of this great event, up to this point. We look forward to highlighting the Waterloo Warrior experience for our Team Ontario families.” says Football Ontario’s Director of Sport and Culture, JT Tsui.

RedBlack Weekend will take place the weekend of May 3 and 4. Tickets are on sale now. You can purchase a Day Pass which covers your entry to all three games for only $10, kids 10 and under are free.

The Football Ontario Top 90 will be selected by the coaching staff and general managers at the U14, U16, and U18 age level. The Football Ontario Top 90 (x3) will be personally invited by Football Ontario to one of the largest recruiting events in Ontario with OUA, CJFL, and other U Sports coaches all in attendance.

The U18 Team Red and Team Black will be selected by a virtual draft held and performed by the Coaching Staff of the Team Ontario program leading up to the weekend. The draft will be streamed online via the Official Football Ontario YouTube Channel this Wednesday, April 17th.

At RedBlack Weekend, players will go through a mini-camp followed by the Red v Black games at each age group that will be filmed and streamed live on the Official Football Ontario YouTube Channel.

RedBlack Weekend is the final step of the evaluation and selection process for the Team Ontario Male Tackle Program. Following the event, the Team Ontario coaches will make their final decisions and the Football Ontario Top 40 will be selected to take part in the Football Canada Cup  U18) and the Eastern Regional Challenge (U16), both of which are to be held in Nova Scotia.

As a part of RedBlack Weekend, for the first time ever, the Team Ontario Women’s Tackle Program will also be included in the event. They will be hosting their Development Camp at the University of Waterloo over the weekend. Each athlete that attends the Women’s Tackle Development Camp will receive free tickets to the RedBlack games!

Football Ontario is thrilled to have the opportunity to put on another successful RedBlack Weekend and to return to Football Canada’s National Championships in 2025. The organization thanks the University of Waterloo, the Waterloo Warriors, and the Waterloo JR Warriors for their hospitality.

To kick off the whole weekend is the TYSN Sports Trivia Game! This event will take place on May 1st at 7pm and will be 100% virtual. This event gives the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and help support Team Ontario athletes journey to the National Championships in 2025.

To go along with all the festivities, the organization is also hosting the first-ever Kick Off Golf Classic and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner. This prestigious event will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at Rebel Creek Golf Course in Petersburg, Ontario.

The event will bring together members of the football community for a day of golf, networking, and celebration, recognizing outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to football in Ontario.

Due to high demand and limited spots, spots for both golf and dinner are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
