The 8-10 hours of Developmental Camps will take place at OUA facilities and will include on-field competition, in-class learning with elite Team Ontario and OUA coaching, weight room sessions, and film sessions. The Bi-Weekly Virtual Development Sessions will include position-specific workshops as well as Team Ontario systems workshops. These sessions will be led by Team Ontario and OUA coaches. Each session will be approximately three hours long and cover a variety of topics in order to help players expand on their knowledge and achieve a greater Football IQ.

The Bi-Weekly U Sports Recruitment Panels will be a chance for players to interact and receive recruiting advice from University coaches across the country. This will be a great opportunity for players to receive exposure and learn about a variety of University programs both in Ontario and across Canada. Each of these sessions will be approximately an hour with a different coach present at each session.

Football Ontario has created a new program for the 2022 High Performance Program called The GREATNESS Academy. The GREATNESS Academy is a grassroots leadership program offered to all Football Ontario athletes and coaches as a part of the High Performance Academy. The mission of the program is to develop leaders on and off the field so they can BECOME champions for life.

Most leadership programs focus solely on developing strategies which is why the behaviour change is temporary and short-term. The GREATNESS Academy is different because it focuses on a holistic approach to leadership development. The program will help athletes and coaches to develop as people by strengthening their spirit, mind and body. The organization wants to develop the leader from within first so that a stronger foundation is created and built.

The GREATNESS Academy is a 10-module program created and facilitated by Adam McLeod and JT Tsui. Combined Adam and JT have over 40+ years of experience developing leaders in business, education, and athletics.

This program will be delivered virtually and topics explored in The GREATNESS Academy will be split into fundamentals and team. The fundamentals portion of the program will focus on celebrating your story, values/pillars, strengths, life purpose/vision and goal-setting. The team portion will focus on wellness, relationships, career development, finances and life.

“I am so enthused to kickoff our 2022 Football Ontario High Performance Academy because the program demonstrates our on-going commitment to excellence both on and off the football field. Through our High-Performance Academy we are providing more diverse, inclusive and equitable opportunities so we can support the growth of both our athletes and coaches. We have also created relationships with some great community partners that will ensure we deliver the best possible experience for everyone involved.” says JT Tsui, Director of Sport for Football Ontario.

Benefits of the Program

  1. Flow Performance – strengthen and develop the spirit-mind-body connection
  2. Trusting Relationships
  3. Powerful Community
  4. Alignment in Purpose, Passion & Strengths with career
  5. Financial Freedom

The Team Ontario coaching staff will be offering more football-specific development opportunities for our athletes by including bi-weekly film study with position groups and system install meetings so we can maximize teaching time on the field.

Football Ontario will also be providing on-going opportunities for athletes to attend recruiting sessions with U Sport Football Coaches. The organization is constantly looking for ways to help Ontario athletes build their future pathway to continue their football careers at the next level.

Team Ontario alumni have a history of going on to perform in U Sports (Keon Edwards of the Western Mustangs), the NCAA (Alonzo Addae of the West Virginia Mountaineers), and the CFL (Royce Metchie of the Calgary Stampeders). By being a part of  the 2022 High Performance Academy. Football Ontario will constantly be looking for ways to help its high-performance players achieve their goals and reach their potential.

The culmination of the High Performance Academy will be the selection of the Top 90 players at each age level. These players will be invited to the Football Ontario Red v Black Weekend being held in late May.

This weekend will consist of a virtual draft of the players performed by Team Ontario and University coaches where teams will be selected and then face off in an exhibition match  at a University facility location TBD on the weekend of April 29 – May 1/2022.
