Football Ontario Accepting HC Applications for Team Ontario U16 Male Tackle Program

Football Ontario Looks to Hire New Head Coach for Program

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is now accepting applications for the Head Coach position with the Team Ontario U16 Male Tackle Program for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The contract will span two years, with an optional third-year extension for 2028 to be determined during the second year of the agreement.

3. Head Coach Roles & Responsibilities

Administration

  • Maintain accurate player and coach contact information
  • Distribute Football Ontario communications and ensure the coaching staff sign off on documents

Communication

  • Coordinate with parents, players, and staff on scheduling and updates
  • Use consistent communication platforms (e.g., TeamLinkt, WhatsApp)
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on Football Ontario documentation

High-Performance Pathway

  • Develop and oversee practice and training plans for tryouts, ID camps, and training camps
  • Work with staff to promote events, recruit athletes, and structure development pathways
  • Attend in-person events throughout tenure (tentative dates and locations for 2026)
    • ID Camps/Dev Camps
      • Southern ID Camp: January 10 or 11, 2026
      • GTA ID Camp: January 24, 2026
      • Eastern ID Camp: February 7 or 8, 2026
      • Northern ID Camp: February 21 or 22, 2026
      • Development Camp: April 11 and 12, 2026

RedBlack Weekend (May 2-3, 2026)

  • Collaborate with Coaching Staff to make Team Red/Black Selections
  • Maintain communication with parents (through WhatsApp, teamlinkt or email)
  • Supporting the coaching staff with supervision of players throughout the weekend

Eastern Challenge/Training Camp (July, 2026)

  • During the tournament, maintain communication with parents (through WhatsApp, Teamlinkt or email)
  • Support the coaching staff with supervision of players
    • Make sure players are supervised going to team meals, taping/therapy rooms for the first 2 days of the tournament, to make sure they know where to go
    • Nightly room check to follow curfew
      • Note: knock at the door to remind players to go to bed in their respective rooms. You are not expected to enter their rooms unless it’s an emergency
  • Work with GM to coordinate meeting times
  • Create a detailed practice plan for practices
  • Attend positional meetings to support the coaching staff

4. Application Requirements

To be considered for the position, applicants must submit the following:

  1. Cover Letter
  2. Resume including contact information for 3 references
  3. Record of NCCP Coach Requirements completed to date
  4. One reference letter highlighting why they would be an ideal U16 Head Coach. This can include:
    • Leadership qualities and characteristics
    • Lived experience up to this point
    • Specific coaching or organizational skills
