Football Ontario Unveils 2025 Team Ontario Senior Women’s Tackle Road Map

Football Ontario Announces the Road Map for the 2025 SR Women’s Tackle  High Performance Program

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is thrilled to announce the creation of the SR Women’s Team Ontario Program (2007+) and the organization is excited to officially unveil the Road Map for the 2025 Program (2007+).

The Recruitment and Development process will consist of two phases that take place from January-May and lead to the formation of the team that will participate in a interprovincial scrimmage against Team Quebec.

SR Road Map

PHASE 1

Phase One will take place in January and February with Recruitment Camps. There will be a total of three camps held across the province with a University of Waterloo Camp, a York University Camp, and a Sudbury Camp.

Football Ontario is working on adding an Eastern Ontario Camp to the schedule. At this time, facilities have proved unavailable. If you are from the Eastern Region we recommend you register for one of our three other camps, if Football Ontario is able to secure an Eastern Camp date your registration can be transferred to this camp free of charge.

Due to there not being a national event in the first year of the program, Football Ontario will not be making any cuts at all throughout this process and plans to invite all athletes who attend Phase 1 to the following Phase.

These Identification Camps will be priced at $49.99 each, however, if you register prior to January 1, 2025 you will receive early-bird pricing of $39.99.

PHASE 2

Phase Two will take place following Phase 1 with the High-Performance Academy with all players from each of the Recruitment Camps receiving an invite to participate.

These athletes will also be invited to a development camp which will take place in the Spring of 2025. This camp will consist of both on-field and classroom work.

Football Ontario will also have virtual sessions for all athletes admitted to the High-Performance Academy. These sessions will be led by both the coaching staff and special guests to help the athletes both on and off the field.

PHASE 3

Following these phases the athletes will make up the final 2025 Team Ontario roster which will face off against Team Quebec in an interprovincial scrimmage.

This scrimmage will take place in late Spring-early Summer of 2025.

More information on dates of the Development Camp and Scrimmage will be announced at a later date.

“Football Ontario is thrilled to announce the release of our Senior Women’s Tackle Football Road Map, marking a historic milestone as we launch provincial programming for the Senior Women’s age group for the very first time. This initiative is a crucial step forward in the growth and development of women’s tackle football across Ontario, creating new opportunities for both new and experienced athletes to excel at the highest level. We’ve had successful growth at the U18 age group for provincial women’s tackle, and I’m excited for these athletes to continue developing with senior programming. I’m eager to collaborate with our Head Coach, John Parkes, and the dedicated Senior Women’s Tackle Committee as we bring this vision to life and elevate the sport in 2025,” says Emily Todd.

The organization hopes to lead a successful Team Ontario program in order to showcase all the talent the province has to offer and display the growth that women’s football has undergone.
