Football Ontario Unveils 2025 Team Ontario Flag Road Map

Football Ontario Opens Registration for Flag Identification Camps!

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario has officially unveiled the Road Map for the 2025 High-Performance Flag Program. For the 2025 Flag High-Performance Season, Football Ontario will have U14 (2012/2013), U16 (2010/2011), U18 (2008/2009), and 18 (2007) Men/Boys and Women/Girls Flag teams for a total of 8 Team Ontario Flag teams.

The Identification and Selection process will consist of three phases that take place from October-April and lead to the selections of the teams that will participate in the Football Canada Elite Flag National Championships which are to be held in Kingston, ON in the Spring of 2025.

PHASE 1

Phase One will take place in October and November with Football Ontario Flag Identification Camps. There will be a total of three camps held across the province with a Toronto Camp, a Hamilton Camp, and an Ottawa Camp.

Football Ontario will also again be working with our partners in Northern Ontario to help identify key athletes that should be considered for the Team Ontario Program but are unable to attend one of these three camps due to travel. This will  provide an opportunity for those who are unable to attend an ID Camp, another entry point to the Team Ontario Program.

Each Identification Camp will be limited per age group so that the organization is able to provide the best possible experience to those in attendance.

These Identification Camps will be priced at $79.99 each, however, if you register prior to October 10, 2024 you will receive early-bird pricing of $69.99.

TORONTO REGISTRATION – OCTOBER 21 @ DOWNSVIEW PARK

HAMILTON REGISTRATION – OCTOBER 26 @ TIM HORTON’S FIELD

OTTAWA REGISTRATION – NOVEMBER 16 @ TD PLACE

PHASE 2

Phase Two will take place immediately following Phase 1 with the Football Ontario Selection and Trials Camp with the Top 30 players from the Identification Camps in each of the eight divisions  receiving an invite to participate.

This Selection and Trials Camp will take place on November 24th at Queen’s University as a part of Football Weekend in Ontario and the Vanier Cup festivities.

It will include 60-90 minutes of skills, drills, and install to be followed by controlled scrimmages of flag football.

The cost for the Selection and Trials Camp will be $179.99 with an early bird price of $149.99. Due to the quick turnaround of the Ottawa Camp, all selectees from this camp will have access to the early bird price.

PHASE 3

Following Phase Two the Top 20 players will be invited to Phase Three which will be the Training and Development Stage. The twenty athletes will be invited to attend one training session per month at the discretion of the coach in varying locations. This phase will run from January-April

The coach will also have the opportunity to enter into various tournaments based on player availability and financials. Following this Phase the Top 15 at each age group will be named.

The cost for the Training and Development Phase will be $529.99 with an early bird price of $499.99.

PHASE 4/5

After the success last year, Football Ontario will again be inviting all Top 15 selected athletes for a training camp prior to the National Championship.

Prior to the end of Training Camp, the 12 athletes who make the final roster will be notified of their position, the other 3 athletes will be named alternates and can be added to the roster prior to the tournament if an injury occurs.

The cost to attend Training Camp and Nationals will be $949.99 with an early-bird registration price of $899.99. The athletes not selected to the final 12 person roster will have the majority of their fee refunded to them and will only pay for the training camp portion of the event.

More information on these camps will be announced once Football Canada officially announces the 2024 Tournament Dates.

“Team Ontario made a strong showing at the 2024 Elite Flag Nationals, earning 4 silver and 2 bronze medals. Our athletes proved they can compete at the highest level, and we’ve gained valuable insights from this year’s process of developing our high-performance teams. We recognize that building team chemistry and a sense of family is crucial for success on the field. Identifying and selecting athletes in the fall will give coaches more time to prepare for competition. We’re excited to continue supporting youth development at the highest level as we look ahead to the next nine months leading to Elite Flag Nationals.” says Olivia Ghosh-Swaby, Manager of Flag Development with Football Ontario

Football Ontario is excited to have the opportunity to host the National Championships in 2025 and lead a successful Team Ontario program in order to showcase all the talent the province has to offer!
