Football Ontario Announces TFFL as Official Member

Football Ontario Welcomes the Toronto Flag Football League as the Newest Member

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is thrilled to welcome the Toronto Flag Football League (TFFL) as an official member of Football Ontario. Together, Football Ontario, the TFFL, and the Toronto Argonauts Football Club will work together in order to continue the growth, promotion, collaboration, and alignment of flag football throughout the province.

The three organizations recently worked together to put on the inaugural 2023 Argos Cup, a flag football tournament for local elementary schools. The event was a success with over 100 athletes participating in a day of games, skills challenges, and even meeting Argos players and alumni.

“The continued growth of flag football is perhaps the most important area of our sport. To see the TFFL and Football Ontario join forces is a truly exciting occasion. The Toronto Argonauts enjoy great partnerships with both organizations and know how important each can be to the other. We’ll be delighted to work with this new partnership to continue the sport’s development.” says Patrick Bakker, Director of Business Operations with Toronto FC and the Toronto Argonauts.

The Toronto Flag Football League has programs for all ages and skill levels, from Learn to Play for ages 5-8, recreational youth programs for ages 9-16, as well as adult leagues. They also operate Women and Girls only leagues as well as competitive programs for each age group. The organization currently possesses an expectant 2024 enrollment of over 2500 players, 200 coaches, and 90 officials. 

Football Ontario and the Toronto Flag Football League are excited to join forces in order to develop future potential Canadian Flag Football Olympians and CFL players. The organization’s will look to work together to build more programming and event opportunities as well as increase opportunities for athletes to take part in the  High-Performance Pathways in order to participate in National and International events.

We look forward to kicking-off many more fun flag football programs for people of all talent levels, and hopefully developing some future Olympians along the way.”

The main mission of this partnership is to grow, promote, and continue to align flag football for all athletes across the province. Through this Football Ontario hopes to provide a more diverse and inclusive sporting experience that encourages leadership development and positive physical and mental health through the sport of football.
