John Parkes to Lead U14 Team Ontario Male Tackle Program

Football Ontario Announces John Parks as the new U14 Team Ontario Head Coach

Hamilton, Ontario – Coach John Parkes has been named the new Head Coach for the Team Ontario U14 Male Tackle Football Program with Football Ontario. 

With 20 plus years of coaching experience at various levels of minor and varsity football across the province. This includes 6 years of Usports experience at McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario. During his time at McMaster, Parkes has been the Recruiting Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator and Director of Football Operations. In 2019 as the Running Backs Coach and Recruiting Coordinator he was a part of the McMaster Marauders winning their 8th Yates Cup.

Parkes has served as the Offensive Coordinator for Team Ontario’s U18 Women’s Tackle Program for the past two years. In 2019 he was an Assistant Coach for the Team Ontario U16 Male Tackle team during the Eastern Challenge in Kingston, Ontario which saw Team Ontario fall short in the Gold medal game and finish with a Silver Medal.

Prior to becoming a full-time coach at McMaster University, from 2013 -2018 Parkes volunteered as Head Coach of the Peterborough Wolverines Sr. Varsity Program (2015-18) and Head Coach of the Bantam program during the 2013 & 2014 seasons. During this time he was also an Assistant Coach of the Crestwood Secondary School Mustangs in Peterborough, Ontario. Parkes was a part of two OFSAA Championship teams (2013 and 2017) and a 2016 National Capital Bowl AA Championship, where he Coached Special Teams and Linebackers.

When asked about his excitement in undertaking this role, Coach Parkes said, “”I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to helping develop and support football in Ontario. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to work alongside Football Ontario and look forward to the 2024 High-Performance season.”

Coach Parkes will work closely with Football Ontario and the Football Ontario High-Performance Committee in order to create and implement a plan to help continue to grow and develop the Team Ontario U14 Male Tackle Program.

Coach Parkes brings a wealth of experience to our U14 Men’s Tackle program as he has been in leadership roles at the community, provincial and national levels. We look forward to working alongside Coach Underhill, Coach Peterson and Coach Parkes as they lead our Team Ontario Men’s Tackle program in 2024.” says JT Tsui, the Director of Sport for Football Ontario.

Coach Parkes will play an integral part in identifying, developing, and preparing high-performance athletes and coaches alongside the High-Performance Committee in order to be best prepared for the 2024 RedBlack Weekend in the spring of 2024.

Football Ontario  is excited to have Coach Parkes at the helm of the Team Ontario U14 Male Tackle  Program and look forward to his success and the growth of the program.
