Football Ontario Unveils 2024 Team Ontario Male U18 Tackle Coaching Staff
Football Ontario Announces the U18 Team Ontario Male Tackle Coaching Staff
Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario has officially announced the 2024 Team Ontario coaching staff for the U18 Male Tackle Program.
The coaching staff is to be led by returning Head Coach Rob Underhill who led the 2023 squad in Edmonton to a 3rd place finish at the 2023 Canada Cup.
The 2024 staff will have a large returning core from the 2023 High-Performance year as they look to build upon a strong tournament. See the full staff listed below:
- Head Coach/Defensive Backs Coach – Rob Underhill
- Assistant Head Coach/Receivers Coach – Mark Surya
- Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach – Todd Galloway
- Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach – Adam Grandy
- Special Teams Coordinator/Running Backs Coach – Chris Hopkins
- Offensive Line Coach – Irv Daymond
- Defensive Line Coach – Joe Cappiello
- General Manager – Joe Joncas
- Athletic Therapist – Jillian Neufeld
“As Head Coach of the 2024 U18 Team Ontario Canada Cup Team, I am excited about the opportunity to work with an extremely knowledgeable and talented coaching staff as we look to search for and develop some of the best football prospects in the province. I am confidently optimistic that with the continued support from Football Ontario and the football community, we will not only be competitive at the national level, but we will posture ourselves in a position to be successful. The talent level at the Canada Cup Tournament is elite but our expectations are high. Winning is the standard and returning with a Medal is non-negotiable. Our ultimate goal of bringing a gold medal back to Ontario is our priority and at the immediate forefront” says Head Coach, Rob Underhill.
Football Ontario is excited to have this talented and experienced staff lead the Team Ontario program and players to success in 2024 at the Canada Cup. The staff provides a grouping of elite coaches which will help the players in both their practical football techniques and skills as well as help further their exposure as they look toward their future in the sport.

Over the last two seasons, our U18 program has seen tremendous growth both on and off the football field. From 2022 to 2023, we saw an increase of 20% more people coming out for U18 Team Ontario ID Camps and this speaks volumes about the experience our student-athletes get when working with Coach Underhill and this coaching staff. I look forward to seeing what is in store for our U18 Team Ontario family moving forward” says Football Ontario’s Director of Sport, JT Tsui.
