Football Ontario to Host 2023 U18 Women’s Tackle National Championship
National Championship to be held in Ottawa July 23-30
Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is thrilled to announce that the organization has been selected to host the 2023 U18 Women’s Tackle National Championship. The event will be hosted in the nation’s capital, Ottawa, from July 23rd to July 30th.
“Football Canada is excited to be building off the 2022 inaugural event, the goal is to have 6 or 8 teams participating in the 2023 Championship. We look forward to working with the host province, Football Ontario, on creating a great competition for the participants.” says Shannon Donovan, Executive Director of Football Canada
In what is the second year of the national event, Football Ontario will be working alongside Football Canada, Carleton University, and OSEG to make sure that this event is memorable for the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and fans.
“Football Ontario is honoured to be able to host the second U18 Women’s Tackle National championship in Ottawa. Football Saskatchewan set the bar very high for the first ever championship and we want to ensure we maintain that level of experience for all the athletes coming to compete. We are thankful for great partners in the region that will be helping to support in the delivery of this great event.” says Aaron Geisler, Executive Director of Football Ontario.
Team Ontario, as the host team, will be looking to improve on its 4th place finish at the inaugural event in Regina this past year.
