Football Ontario Unveils 2023 Team Ontario Women’s Tackle Road Map

Football Ontario Announces the Road Map for the 2023 High Performance Program

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario has officially unveiled the Road Map for the 2023 Futures Identification and Team Ontario U18 Women’s Tackle Program (2006/2007/2008).

The Identification and Selection process will consist of two phases that take place from January-May and lead to the selections of the teams that will participate in the 2023 U18 Women’s Tackle National Championship.

U18 ROADMAP

Phase One will take place in January and February with Football Ontario Futures and Identification Camps. There will be a total of three camps held across the province with a Waterloo Camp, a York Camp, and an Ottawa Camp.

Football Ontario will also be offering a lower entry fee for those who wish to attend these camps without receiving identification for Team Ontario and would just like to simply further develop and hone their skills with the great coaching that will be available at each camp.

Football Ontario is also partnering with the 13th Man to provide a Northern Exposure Camp in Sault Ste Marie in which Team Ontario and U Sports coaches will be present. This will  provide an opportunity for those who are unable to attend an ID Camp, another entry point to the Team Ontario Program.

WATERLOO REGISTRATION – January 15/23

YORK REGISTRATION – February 4/23

OTTAWA REGISTRATION – February 25/23

Phase Two will take place immediately following Phase 1 with the High-Performance Academy with the top players from each of the Identification Camps receiving an invite to participate. There will also be one development camp for the athletes invited to this phase. The camp will take place in the Spring of 2023 and will consist of both on-field and classroom work.

Following these phases the final Team Ontario roster will be selected  to form the team that will take part in the 2023 Women’s U18 Tackle National Championship. Stay tuned for Football Canada’s formal announcement on when this event will take place.

“I am excited to release our pathway for the U18 Team Ontario Women’s Tackle Team. We had a successful first year of the program in 2022 and going into the 2023 season, we are enthused to find top talent in Ontario to field a strong Women’s Tackle team. These selection camps encourage a sense of community across the province, while increasing player participation and encouraging all women and girls to participate in football.” says Emily Todd, Programs Manager with Football Ontario.

Football Ontario is excited to have the opportunity to return to the National Championship after a successful inaugural 2022 season. The organization hopes to lead a successful Team Ontario program in order to showcase all the talent the province has to offer.
