Football Ontario Unveils 2023 Team Ontario Male U18 Tackle Coaching Staff

Football Ontario Announces the U18 Team Ontario Male Tackle Coaching Staff

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario has officially announced the 2023 Team Ontario coaching staff for the U18 Male Tackle Program.

The coaching staff is to be led by returning Head Coach Rob Underhill who led the 2022 squad to a 4th place finish at the 2022 U18 Canada Cup in Kelowna.

The 2023 staff will have a large returning core from the 2022 High-Performance year. See the full staff listed below:

  • Head Coach/Defensive Backs Coach – Rob Underhill
  • Assistant Head Coach/Receivers Coach – Todd Galloway
  • Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach – Mark Surya
  • Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach – Adam Grandy
  • Special Teams Coordinator/Running Backs Coach – Chris Hopkins
  • Offensive Line Coach – Irv Daymond
  • Defensive Line Coach – Joe Cappiello
  • General Manager – Joe Joncas

“I am extremely excited to have the main core of our coaching staff returning for our 2023 Canada Cup Campaign.  The level of experience and knowledge of our staff is unparalleled and the continuity of this group moving forward allows us to properly evaluate, prepare and execute, based on last year’s challenges and successes.  I believe we have laid down a stable foundation in 2022 and that our odds for ultimate success in 2023 is that much greater.  It is undeniably the strengths & efforts of all our coaches, support staff and volunteers which gives us our greatest opportunity to win on and off the field” says Rob Underhill, Head Coach of the U18 Program.

Football Ontario is excited to have this talented and experienced staff lead the Team Ontario program and players to success in 2023 at the Canada Cup. The staff  provides a grouping of elite coaches which will help the players in both their practical football techniques and skills as well as help further their exposure. 

“I am enthused to continue to work alongside Coach Underhill and our U18 Men’s Tackle coaching staff by building off the successes of last year. This is a diverse group with a wealth of leadership and coaching experience at the national, provincial and the grassroots level of our beautiful game. Not only are these great football coaches, they are great mentors and role models for our U18 student-athletes.
