Mark Ouellet to Lead U18 Women’s Tackle

Football Ontario Announces Mark Ouellet as New Head Coach for U18 Women’s Tackle with Team Ontario

Hamilton, Ontario – Mark Ouellet has been named the new Head Coach for the inaugural Team Ontario girls tackle football U18 team with Football Ontario. Mark will serve a three-year term with the program.

Mark has been coaching tackle football for a long period of time and  recently undertook the role of Director of Girls Tackle with NCAFA in order to work with clubs as well as with Football Ontario and Football Canada in order to ensure that NCAFA takes a leadership role in developing a girls tackle football program in 2022.

When asked about the opportunity, Mark said, “I am beyond excited to help lead the Team Ontario U18 Girls’ Tackle program into a new horizon of competition and am appreciative of the trust given to me by Football Ontario. The development of new football pathways for girls’ and women is close to my heart as the father of a girl who is just starting her tackle football journey, and as a coach who has spent three decades witnessing young men be given every opportunity to succeed. The appetite for girls tackle football in our communities is enormous and I can’t wait to show the rest of the country what Ontario has to offer.”

Mark will work closely with Football Ontario and the Football Ontario Girls and Women’s Development committee in order to create and implement a plan to help continue to grow and develop the Ontario U18 Girls Team and future high performance athletes.

“Mark provides a great mix of coach and program development experience to the U18 girls Team Ontario program. We are excited to work with him and the Football Ontario Girls and Women’s development committee to provide a strong foundation for girls high performance programs in the province,” says Aaron Geisler, Executive Director of Football Ontario.

Mark will play an integral part in identifying, developing, and preparing high-performance athletes and coaches alongside the High-Performance Committee in order to be best prepared for the U18 Girls 9-a-side National Championship in the summer of 2022 with an official date and location to be determined.

Football Ontario  is excited to have Coach Ouellet at the helm of the Team Ontario girls Tackle  program and look forward to great success.
