Team Ontario Red Wins 2024 U18 Women’s National Championship!
Football Ontario Claims 1st Place for the First Time on National Stage
Hamilton, Ontario – Team Ontario has claimed Gold at the 2024 Canada Cup, securing a thrilling victory over Team Alberta at BMO Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This remarkable achievement marks Ontario’s first ever top place finish at the Women’s National Championship, in the third year of the event.
Football Ontario would like to congratulate Team Alberta and Football Alberta for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Their athletes, coaches, and support staff exemplify the high level of competition and fair play that defines the Women’s National Championship.
The organization is incredibly proud of all of its U18 athletes, coaches, support staff, and volunteers who showcased unparalleled dedication, skill, teamwork and an ALLIN mentality throughout this entire process. Football Ontario would also like to thank all of our great partners and sponsors, whose support has been instrumental in achieving this success.
The 2024 U18 Women’s National Championship saw Team Ontario Red win three straight games, winning decisive quarter-final and semi-final matchups against Team New Brunswick and Team Quebec before moving onto their matchup with the back-to-back National Champions, Team Alberta in the Gold Medal Game.
After falling behind 8-0 early on in the game, Team Ontario Red would respond and never look back, winning the Gold Medal, and the Harlow Division trophy with a final score of 25-8.
Teagan Roy was the Offensive MVP of the Gold Medal Game, finishing with 8 receptions for 232 yards, and 2 TDs. Roy was also named the tournament’s Offensive MVP. Favor Evenki was named the Defensive MVP of the Gold Medal Game finishing with 8 solo tackles, 6 assists, and 2 sacks.

I am incredibly proud of the dedication and effort of this entire group, as the discipline and passion among the athletes and coaches brought home the National Championship.. Thank you Head Coach Carlie Manners, who led this program, to ensure everyone was prepared for Nationals and stayed focused on the end goal.
