Football Ontario Announces Kirby Camplin as Head Coach of Team Ontario U16 Male Tackle Program
Football Ontario Accepting Applications for Assistant Coaching Positions
Hamilton, Ontario – Kirby Camplin has been named the new Head Coach for the Team Ontario U16 Male Tackle Program. Coach Camplin will serve a two year term through 2027 with a third year option for the 2028 High Performance season.
Kirby Camplin brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the role of U16 Head Coach. He spent five seasons on the coaching staff at Carleton University from 2013–2017 and has been a fixture within the Team Ontario program for the past six years, most recently serving on the U14 staff in 2022 and 2023.
Camplin has also represented Ontario on the international stage, coaching in three International Bowls (2013, 2015, 2016). As Defensive Coordinator in 2015, he led Team Ontario to a historic victory over Team USA.
Beyond his provincial and university coaching roles, Camplin has been deeply involved in grassroots football. He has served as President of the Cornwall Wildcats Football Club since 2015, after joining the organization in 2006. During his tenure with the Wildcats and NCAFA, he has coached every level from U10 through U18, shaping the development of athletes across the region.
“I am incredibly proud to be chosen to lead the U16 Team Ontario program for the next two years. I am looking forward to building an experienced coaching staff that will serve athletes from all corners of the province.” says Coach Camplin. “To our athletes – we will continue to build a program to be proud of, and to build on the foundations of excellence set by those before us. Everything we do will be built on hard work, accountability, and team work.“
Coach Camplin will work closely alongside Football Ontario and the Football Ontario High-Performance Committee in order to implement a plan to help continue to grow, develop, and sustain the success of the U16 Male Tackle Program.
Kirby will play an integral part in identifying, developing, and preparing high-performance athletes and coaches in order to be best prepared for the Eastern Challenge in the summer of 2026.
“On behalf of the Football Ontario High-Performance Committee, I wanted to extend my congratulations to Coach Camplin on being named the Head Coach for our U16 Team Ontario Men’s Tackle program. During the hiring process, it became evident that Coach Camplin’s background coaching at multiple levels of the game (community, provincially and USport) combined with his experience serving in different executive roles at both the club and league levels made him the ideal candidate for this role. I look forward to seeing how Coach Camplin guides and leads this next evolution of this program.” says JT Tsui, Director of Sport and Culture of Football Ontario.
Football Ontario is excited to have Coach Camplin at the helm of the organization’s U16 Male Tackle Program and look forward to his successes.
Football Ontario is also currently seeking assistant coaches to be a part of the U16 Team Ontario staff.
