Football Ontario Announces Team Ontario Parents’ Committee
Football Ontario Accepting Applications to Join
Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is excited to announce the establishment of the Team Ontario Parents’ Committee. The organization is currently accepting applications to join the committee.
Team Ontario Parents Committee Outline
Purpose:
The Team Ontario Parents Committee is established to represent the interests and concerns of parents and to support team operations and community-building efforts. The committee works closely with the coaching staff, general manager, and team administration to ensure smooth communication and to help organize essential activities during team events.
1. Committee Structure
- Membership:
- Minimum one parent representative from each of the Team Ontario teams.
- U14 Men’s Tackle
- U16 Men’s Tackle
- U18 Men’s Tackle
- U18 Women’s Tackle
- U14 Men’s / Women’s Flag
- U16 Men’s / Women’s Flag
- U18 Men’s / Women’s Flag
- 18 Men’s / Women’s Flag
- Parent representatives are selected at the beginning of the season.
- Parents can be those of former Team Ontario athletes that want to contribute to the program.
- Minimum one parent representative from each of the Team Ontario teams.
- Roles:
- Chairperson – Leads meetings and acts as the main liaison with the Football Ontario staff.
- Event Coordinator(s) – Oversees the organization of in-person events, including registrations and parent socials.
- Fundraising Coordinator(s) – Plans and executes fundraising initiatives to support team activities and tournaments.
- Communication Liaison – Responsible for gathering parent concerns and feedback to communicate effectively with coaching staff and general management.
- *Each representative communicates with their team’s GM or HC.
2. Responsibilities
- Communication with Coaching Staff & General Manager
- Act as the voice of parents by presenting concerns, feedback, and suggestions to the coaching staff and general manager.
- Relay important information from the general manager and coaching staff to parents in a timely manner.
- Support for In-Person Events
- Assist with the organization and smooth operation of key in-person events, such as team registration days, practices, and travel arrangements.
- Be present at events to provide logistical support (e.g., helping with the registration process, answering parent questions).
- Fundraising Initiatives
- Develop and implement fundraising ideas to support team activities, tournaments, and potential scholarships.
- Coordinate with parents, team staff, and external partners to ensure successful fundraising campaigns.
- Parent Socials During Tournaments
- Organize and promote parent get-togethers during tournaments to foster a sense of community and support.
- Plan fun, informal activities to strengthen the bond between parents, teams, and coaching staff.
3. Meeting Schedule & Communication
- Monthly Meetings:
- Regular monthly meetings, either in person or virtually, to discuss updates, address concerns, and plan upcoming events.
- Communication Channels:
- Use group emails, messaging apps, or dedicated platforms to maintain regular communication between committee members and parents.
- Provide updates after each meeting, ensuring transparency and clarity in decision-making.
4. Goals for the Year
- Improve communication between parents and team staff.
- Successfully run at least two fundraising events during the season.
- Organize parent socials at each major tournament.
- Enhance parent engagement through well-organized, accessible in-person events.
This structure will create a streamlined system for addressing concerns, fostering community, and ensuring that parents are actively involved in supporting their athletes and the broader Team Ontario environment.
*Please note, involvement in the Parent Committee does not guarantee your athlete a roster spot. We are looking for parents (past or present involvement with Team Ontario) that would like to support the delivery of the Team Ontario program in 2025.
