Football Ontario Announces Jeff Mellor as New Head Equipment Manager

Football Ontario Brings on Queen’s Head Equipment Manager in Same Role with Organization

Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is excited to announce that Jeff Mellor has been named the new Head Equipment Manager for Football Ontario and the Equipment Manager for U18 Women’s Tackle Team Ontario Black in 2024.

In 2024, Jeff will focus on the U18 Women’s Team Ontario Black Program and in following years will oversee the entirety of the organization’s equipment needs.

Jeff Mellor is a graduate of Queen’s University with three degrees; BPHE, BA and a BED. He is a retired teacher with 27 years’ experience. He began his journey with Queen’s Football as an 11-year-old boy in 1968, as a water boy. He was at every practice helping the equipment manager, travelled and stayed with the team, and had his own uniform for game day. He won the Vanier Cup in his first year, and he was hooked! Jeff then became Manager of the team, then became Assistant Equipment Manager for many years before becoming Head Equipment Manager for the last ten years. I have been a member of a few Vanier Cup teams. The best part of his job is getting to work with 110 awesome student athletes on a daily basis.

“I am thrilled and honoured that Emily Todd has given me the opportunity to be Equipment Manager for Team Black at this year’s National Championships. I look forward to working with these exceptional athletes on their journey to New Brunswick this July!” says Jeff.

Jeff Mellor will play an integral part as a part of the Football Ontario and Team Ontario staff this summer. Jeff will ensure that the organization’s athletes are well prepared for their National Championship games.

Football Ontario is excited to welcome Jeff as a member of the Football Ontario family and looks forward to his success.
