EQUIPMENT MANAGER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- ADMINISTRATION
- Equipment Maintenance and Inventory Management: The equipment manager is responsible for maintaining an inventory of all football equipment, including helmets, pads, jerseys, cleats, and other necessary gear. They ensure that all equipment is in good condition, clean, and properly fitted for each player.
- Equipment Procurement: They are often tasked with ordering new equipment and supplies as needed, including replacement gear and any specialized equipment required by players or coaches.
- Equipment Repair and Maintenance: They oversee the repair and maintenance of equipment, including patching up helmets, fixing broken straps, and ensuring that everything is in working order. They may also work closely with equipment manufacturers or repair specialists when necessary.
- Field Setup and Maintenance: In some cases, equipment managers may assist with setting up the playing field before games and practices, including placing goalposts, yard markers, and other necessary equipment. They may also be responsible for maintaining equipment such as tackling dummies and sleds.
- Laundry and Uniform Care: Equipment managers often oversee the cleaning and maintenance of team uniforms, including washing and repairing jerseys and pants as needed. They ensure that players have clean uniforms for each game and practice.
- Assisting Coaching Staff: They may assist the coaching staff during practices and games, providing support as needed with equipment setup, drills, or other tasks.
- Emergency Preparedness: Equipment managers need to be prepared for emergencies, such as providing medical equipment like first aid kits or assisting with emergency equipment needs during games or practices.
- Communication and Organization: Effective communication and organization are essential for an equipment manager. They need to keep track of equipment needs, orders, repairs, and other important information, often coordinating with coaches, players, and other staff members.
- Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensuring that all equipment meets safety standards and regulations is a critical responsibility. This includes staying updated on safety guidelines and ensuring that equipment is properly certified and maintained.
2. COMMUNICATION
- Assist HC and GM with any communication needs
- Outreach/ communication with community partners to recruit volunteers for events and sponsors for events
- Promote events through social media to drive registration, player participation, and excitement
3. HIGH PERFORMANCE PATHWAY
- Attend all remaining in-person events (tentative dates and locations for 2024):
- Development Camps:
- April 7 (Hamilton, ON)
- April 14 (Aurora, ON)
- RedBlack Weekend
- May 3-5 (Waterloo, ON)
- Development Camps:
- Training Camp
- Eastern Regional: July 13-21, 2024
4. REDBLACK WEEKEND
- Support other coaches with supervision of players throughout the weekend
- Other duties as required
5. NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
- Support other coaches and staff with supervision of players throughout travel process and at tournament
- Support staff to make sure tournament schedules are followed (practices/meals/meetings/etc.)
- Other duties as required
