First Professional Conference Geared Towards Women and Gender Minorities in Football in Canada

1st Annual Women’s FootbALL Conference to Take Place in February

Hamilton, Ontario – Women looking to pursue a career in football finally have a place they can go. In partnership with Football Ontario, NFL Canada, and Hamilton Sports Group, the 1st Annual Women’s FootbALL Conference will provide education, guidance, inspiration, and networking opportunities for women and gender minorities. The conference is February 18-19, 2023 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.

“With the increasing popularity of women and girls in football, we would like to present an opportunity for all females and gender minorities in football to feel welcome,” says Taylor MacIntyre, Founder of the Women’s FootbALL Conference. “At the Women’s FootbALL Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to learn skills needed to succeed in the industry, receive guidance from female leaders and allies in football, network with decision-makers and change-makers in Ontario, and will be inspired by dozens of success stories from women in football.”

The two-day event will consist of a meet-and-greet, clinic-style educational presentations, a panel discussion, a Q&A period, a networking evening, as well as an on-field session. For those attendees local to Ontario, the conference will have an in-person option with the networking component, as well as an online live-stream clinic option for international colleagues. Attendees are actively looking to become a football coach, scout, strength & conditioning coach, official, or to get involved in football operations, administration, or league governance, amongst other opportunities in the sport.

“The Women’s FootbALL Conference will positively impact females and other gender-minority coaches, administrators, players, and support staff within football,” says Emily Todd, Conference Coordinator. “The goal is to create opportunities for women to network and connect with other females in the football industry, to share experiences, and to learn skills for life and football. The event will provide training on the female perspective within football, which enables coaches to create safe and inclusive opportunities for women in football, regardless of their role.”

After the event, attendees will be equipped to continue developing essential women’s and girls’ programs within their communities, have access to resources provided by the speakers and panelists, and will have the courage to pursue roles on male-dominated teams. The Women’s FootbALL Conference will create and shape confident female leaders within the football industry.

The 1st Annual Women’s FootbALL Conference is requesting sponsorship from our community to deliver a high-quality, invaluable event for an underrepresented group within the industry. Since finances should not be a barrier to entry or inclusion, our goal is to host this event at a low-cost for participants.
