Football Ontario Accepting Mentee Coach Applications for Team Ontario U18 Male Tackle Program
Football Ontario Looks to Hire Coaching Staff for Program
Hamilton, Ontario – Football Ontario is now accepting applications for a Mentee Coach with the Team Ontario U18 Male Tackle Program for the 2026 season.
A mentee coach refers to a less experienced coach aiming to get experience at the provincial/national level. The applicant must coach athletes between the ages of 12-18 and cannot currently be coaching at the CJFL or U Sports level.
All applicants must be at least 18 years or older as of January 1, 2026.

3. Coach Roles & Responsibilities
Administration
- Maintain accurate player and coach contact information
 - Distribute Football Ontario communications as needed
 
Communication
- Coordinate with parents, players, and staff on scheduling and updates
 - Use consistent communication platforms (e.g., TeamLinkt, WhatsApp)
 - Collaborate with the Head Coach and General Manager on completing any Football Ontario documentation
 
High-Performance Pathway
- Develop practice and training plans alongside Head Coach for tryouts, ID camps, and training camps
 - Work with rest of staff to promote events, recruit athletes, and structure development pathways
 - Attend in-person events throughout tenure (tentative dates and locations for 2026)
- ID Camps/Dev Camps
- Southern ID Camp: January 10 or 11, 2026
 - GTA ID Camp: January 18, 2026
 - Eastern ID Camp: February 15, 2026
 - Northern ID Camp: February 21, 2026
 - Development Camp: April 11 and 12, 2026
 
 
 - ID Camps/Dev Camps
 
RedBlack Weekend (May 2-3, 2026)
- Collaborate with Coaching Staff to make Team Red/Black Selections
 - Supporting with the supervision of players throughout the weekend
 
Canada Cup/Training Camp (July, 2026)
- During the tournament, maintain communication with parents (through WhatsApp, Teamlinkt or email)
 - Support with the supervision of players
- Make sure players are supervised going to team meals, taping/therapy rooms for the first 2 days of the tournament, to make sure they know where to go
 - Nightly room check to follow curfew
- Note: knock at the door to remind players to go to bed in their respective rooms. You are not expected to enter their rooms unless it’s an emergency
 
 
 - Work with GM/HC to coordinate meeting times
 - Assist with creation of detailed practice plan for practices
 
4. Application Requirements

 - Record of NCCP Coach Requirements completed to date
 - One reference letter highlighting why they would be the ideal candidate for the coaching position they are seeking.

 - Unique and specific skills that could enhance the U18 staff
 - Lived experience up to this point
