Kingston Minor Football League Set to Kick Off in Spring 2025

Kingston, ON – The Kingston Minor Football League (KMFL) is excited to announce its official debut in
Kingston and surrounding areas in the spring of 2025. The Kingston Minor Football League, a registered
Not-For-Profit, in collaboration with the Kingston Grenadiers Football Club, will launch a total of 24 minor
league football teams for young athletes ages 8 to 14. The league will comprise of U10, U12 and U14
divisions with 8 teams per division representing Kingston West (2 teams), Kingston East (2 teams)
Kingston Central (1 team), Napanee (1 team), Sydenham (1 team), and Gananoque (1 team).


Additionally, the KMFL will field an elite team at the U14 level that will compete in the AAA division of the
Ontario Summer Football League (OSFL) under the Kingston Grenadiers’ banner. “Supporting the
hundreds of young football players in our community is very exciting for our organization,” said Alexandra
Reyes-Walsh, President of the Kingston Grenadiers. “Our football community, will only be as good as we
make minor football.” The Kingston Grenadiers Football Club and Football Ontario will provide mentorship
and support to enhance the development of players, coaches, volunteers, and stakeholders within the
KMFL league, ensuring a solid foundation for the future.


“This league will not only foster the love of football but also promote teamwork, discipline, and
sportsmanship among youth while giving kids a jumpstart opportunity in learning to be student-athletes,”
said Arthur Laramie, of KMFL. “We aim to offer an elevated league experience by involving our
KMFL Association communities and stakeholders throughout the season, establishing a sense of pride and togetherness within the growing football community in Kingston and the surrounding areas.”


To celebrate their launch, KMFL will be holding early bird registration at the “Try Football” event taking
place during the 2024 Vanier Cup on November 23, 2024, at Richardson Stadium. This event will provide
young athletes the chance to try football through a variety of skills and drills in a safe and fun
environment. The KMFL team will be on site to answer questions and help with registration for the 2025
season.


Stay tuned for updates on KMFL socials regarding a “Call for Coaches.” KMFL encourages members of
the community who have playing or coaching experience and/or a passion and understanding of football
to apply. Applications for coaching positions will be accepted through their online application system.

About the Kingston Minor Football League
The Kingston Minor Football League is a local registered Not-For-Profit organization that has been
established to benefit the children of Kingston and the surrounding area. Our league is sanctioned by both
Football Ontario and Football Canada and is entirely managed by a volunteer board of directors, coaches
and staff. Our mandate is to provide a competitive recreational program for children and youth through
tackle football, while promoting and encouraging good sportsmanship and fellowship among all
participants at a cost that is attainable to all members of our diverse socioeconomic community. The
vision of the KMFL is that through the teaching and coaching of amateur football and its related skills, we
can assist in the betterment of our community’s children’s physical, mental, and social well-being. The aim

About the Kingston Grenadiers
The Kingston Grenadiers Football Club is a not-for-profit overseen by a volunteer board of directors,
coaches and staff, that has offered competitive AAA summer football at the bantam, junior and senior
varsity divisions since 2004. The Kingston Grenadiers compete at the AAA level in the Ontario Summer
Football League and are member of Football Ontario and Football Canada. In addition to learning, playing,
and enjoying football at the highest level of youth amateur competition, our emphasis will always be
placed on sportsmanship, self-discipline, teamwork, academic achievement, and community involvement.
We attract top players from across Frontenac, Hastings, Lanark, Leeds, Lennox and Prince Edward
counties, and our teams travel from Ottawa to Windsor. Our players go on to compete at the university and
college levels across the country, and we are proud of our alumni have and are currently playing in the
professional ranks. Over the past 20 years, thousands of young athletes have been involved with the
Grenadiers, learning not only how to elevate their football game, but the fundamentals of how to be a good
citizen through accountability, leadership, and positive sportsmanship. Skills that are valuable both on and
off the field.
